Len Fragomeni

Len Fragomeni After his first hard tipple at the ripe age of 13—straight from the whiskey bottle; it’s something of a small-town Ontario rite of passage—Len went on to open the Toronto Institute of Bartending in 2002, which has trained more than 50,000 industry bartenders, servers, managers, and owners working throughout the country. In 2010, he and his team further helped carve out a cocktail scene by opening SpiritHouse. The Toronto temple to drinking now has plans to expand to Montreal, Chicago, San Francisco, and New York.

Dave Mitton

Dave Mitton Over the past 17 years, Dave has worked behind the wood in numerous bars, saloons, and gin joints across the world. His heart is divided between perfecting classic cocktails and crafting contemporary new drinks. Dave’s a managing partner at The Harbord Room and THR & Co. in Toronto; as president of The Canadian Professional Bartenders Association Ontario Chapter, he also helps build and share the cocktail community across Canada.

Matt Pettit

Matt Pettit Matt spent years in the kitchen before he took off for university—a busboy at age 13, a line cook the year after that. After fluking into a job with a major brewery while he was still in school, Matt spent the next 12 years working for Charton Hobbs (Moët Hennessy), Diageo, and Philippe Dandurand Wines. He launched a Rock Lobster Food Co. pop-up event in March 2012 and has since grown it into two busy restaurants and a successful wholesale and retail seafood line. He’s currently writing a lobster cookbook, to be published by Random House in the fall of 2014.

Christine Sismondo

Christine Sismondo Christine is The Grid’s drinks columnist and contributed to the National Magazine Award–winning guide “94 excuses to drink now.” She is the author of Mondo Cocktail: A Shaken and Stirred History, as well as America Walks into a Bar: A Spirited History of Taverns and Saloons, Speakeasies and Grog Shops.

Andrew Toplack

Andrew Toplack Andrew is a medical doctor—and a cocktail lover. For several years, he imported fine tequilas and mezcals into Ontario. He’s also a frequent attendant at events such as Tales of the Cocktail, Manhattan Cocktail Classic, and London Cocktail Week.
